Biochanin A

Biochanin A is a molecule found in clovers and red clovers that has been of increasing interest due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-infective and anti-carcinogenic effects. Because its molecular structure and size resembles that of estrogens found in our bodies, it can be used as a hormone alternative therapy to alleviate postmenopausal symptoms in women by targeting estrogen deficiencies. However, biochanin A has low bioavailability and poor solubility therefore limiting its oral absorption and usability as a therapeutic agent.
